Trail use by Arrowhead golf course

Postby donc on Sun Jan 10, 2010 3:50 pm

I drove down Gallop rd. today and noticed that people are taking a short cut, crossing the driveway & yard at 650 Gallop rd. . This is the last house you would pass, heading south across from arrowhead, towards the railroad bed, just before the open field. I haven't been out yet, but In the past we were supposed to stay on the shoulder of the road in this section untill you reach the field and it seems as though there were issues in this area a few years ago. Maybe a section of snow fence or sign on the south side of the property adjacent to the field would put an end to it unless maybe it's been okayed by the owner. But from what I saw the signs are directing us to the road, not into someones yard.
I will be away on Monday, but available on tuesday, and more than happy to pick up whatever is recommended and put it in place.

Don,
Thanks for your Post.
That's the beginning of my section of trail.
See my post: Nick, you were right!
It's too bad that some snowmobilers don't seem to
see signs directing them onto the actual trail.
There is now a snowfence across the south side of that yard.

All snowmobilers, please be considerate of homeowners whose
front yards our trail borders.

Marty,

Looks like the fence is not enough to keep folks off of that lawn.
If you look at the current track, a whole lot of sleds are riding over the guys lawn, crossing his drive and then returning to the road at the snow fence.

Claymores?

It is disgusting that some people JUST DON'T GET IT!

The entire sport of snowmobiling depends upon the concept
of Landowners being generous enough to allow those without
their own land to ride on theirs. Clubs plan, sign and maintain
those trails for the safety and enjoyment of all, members and non
members. There are over 10,000 miles of such trail in New York.

The disrespect shown by some will ruin it for us all.

Isn't it time to grow up and change the "image" of snowmobilers.?

I really don't think that the offenders read the posts on this website.
In fact, they probably don't read much of anything(including signs).
I'm sorry to preach to the choir but we can't say nothing either.

Those that are respectful and set good examples, Thank You.
Those of you idiots that ride anywhere you want, whenever you want,
please GET OUT OF THIS SPORT!
